Meet my DYCP collaborators and tutors

I'm humbled and delighted to share the journey of my funded project to create a linen garment from locally grown flax. This project wouldn't be possible without the incredible support and expertise of my collaborators and tutors: Rowan Hunt, Amanda Hannaford, and Fantasy Fibre Mill. Rowan was part of the flax group I ran last year, Amanda is an expert flax spinner, and Fantasy Fibre Mill is the first flax fibre mill in the UK in 200 years.

Fantasy Fibre Mill: A Sustainable Textile Revolution in Scotland

Fantasy Fibre Mill, located in the scenic landscapes of East Linton, Scotland, is at the forefront of a sustainable and ethical textile movement. Founded by Rosie Bristow and Nick Evans, the mill is dedicated to connecting regenerative agriculture with ethical fashion by producing natural fibre yarn that is entirely grown, processed, and spun within the UK. Fantasy Fibre Mill represents a broader vision of sustainability and ethical production in the fashion industry, emphasizing hyper-local, transparent, and climate-beneficial yarn and fabric supply networks. As the first flax fibre mill in the UK in 200 years, their work is essential to rebuilding the UK’s flax and textile industry with a focus on local production and minimizing environmental impact.

Their dedication to sustainability and ethical practices aligns perfectly with the goals of our project, and we are excited to work with them to bring this vision to life.
